My approach to counselling

My counselling approach to tackling any mental health crisis leans towards Positive Psychology and Existential Psychology. In addition to this, I draw from others perspectives such as Mindfulness Based Therapies, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Relational Life Therapy by making use of their techniques to find out the root cause of the challenge. Once the root cause has been established, I work with the client towards finding appropriate ways to cope and manage.

I pride myself on creating a safe counselling space, where clients feel respected, non-judgement, unconditional positive regard and empathy.

Additionally, I feel most comfortable and connected when working with clients who are goal-focused and are interested in short-term counselling. I normally suggest clients contract with me for 4 to 12 sessions depending on their goals.

However, I respect and appreciate that needs differ from client to client and I will adjust and adapt to the needs of each client.

"There is no standard normal. Normal is subjective. There are seven billion versions of normal on this planet. "

Although my area of interest is broad and I am qualified to work with a full range of clients, I feel most comfortable to work with clients who are looking to work through challenges such as;

  •

    Personal Growth and Self Awareness

  • Anxiety and Stress

  • Feelings of Depression

  • Low Self-esteem

  • Relationships

  • Communication

  •  Burnout

  • Inner child work
